so this Korean bender has a fairly non-traditional tipping torch; its a standalone butane torch.  seems like it works for him... anyone else try anything like this?  (tipping off starts around the 04:43 mark)

I've seen those but not used them since I prefer to tip off with the two headed torches. What he is using probably works ok for lead free but not adjustable enough to get the lean flame needed for leaded glass. (Which still turns up at times.) Also, I am sure that it would be awkward in certain situations where there is not as much room to move the larger torch around.

yeah, i was wondering about the mixture/temperature of the flame on those little butane torches when i saw him using it.  but, since i have piles of tubulated lead electrodes & 5mm lead glass ill just stick to a regular tipping torch.
