I did a quick pass through the website this morning and polished a few thing. Mostly aesthetics and some tuning to speed up page loads. 

One of the biggest changes is to persist logins - if you want to log out you must manually do that now. The site will keep you logged in for 6 months instead of 20 minutes. 

I'd love to hear more feedback as well - if anything on the site is annoying to you, pipe up. The main goal of this website is to give you guys a place to talk neon that isn't giving your effort and content away to billionaires who have no interest in you other than as eyeballs to push ads in front of, or worse get you riled up and angry so you engage more. 

Facebook, Instagram, and Discord might be where the crowds are, but those platforms don't care about neon. They care about engagement metrics. Your hard work is just content sandwiched between ads and algorithm-driven outrage. On NMG your posts won't get buried because you didn't pay to boost them - there's no algorithm deciding who sees what — if you post it, members see it. Is it smaller? Sure - but it's yours and every feature here was added because it made sense, not because it maximizes "time on platform."

So post your work here first. Start the conversations here. You can always cross-post to the other platforms — but make NMG your home base. And engage with the community.

Thanks so much for the updates @maker! Is there a way to make the calendar editable by members? 

@NeonZoe - all set. I needed to hook directly into Google's API to update the calendar. Now every user has an "Events" tab in their member section that will allow them to post directly to the calendar. The user's events will show in their profile as well so they have control over editing/deleting the events they own. Events posted from the admin Events section will be owned by the "site" rather than any particular user.

The "Events Calendar" https://neonmakersguild.org/calendar has a toggle what switches view from Calendar to a List so you can see events in the future without needing to flip the calendar month.

I added a couple of features

• Notifications: There's a Bell Icon in the menu that will let you know if there are new posts or comments.
• you can mention someone - @Eve  - for example and they will get notified as well. Just type the at sign and start typing the username. This works in forums and post comments.
• https://neonmakersguild.org/members/map will show a map of all users. This is accessible from the Members list as a view option.

Thank you for doing these upgrades!  I hope to see more and more people using the site as I, for one, would like to continue reducing my use of FB.
