Hello to all the new members! It's so exciting to see people join this community. Please feel free to introduce yourself here or just say hello. I'll start. My name is Eve Hoyt (aka Evening Neon) and I am based out of Philadelphia, PA. I've been bending neon for a little over 30 years and have a small neon studio on the second floor of my garage. I make my own artwork, do some smaller neon projects and teach neon workshops. I'm looking forward to connecting with more neon folks and building this community.

Gateshead, UK

Hi everyone. I guess the start of Neon Speaks 2022 has spurred me on to begin making full use of my membership here. My name is Michael Davidson, I am based in Gateshead, north-east England, UK. I currently have very little experience in this field with a few years working with borosilicate glass. I became interested in neon from a photographic background wanting to learn about its history that led onto the actual craft. Currently I am half way through an MA in Glass at the University of Sunderland that unfortunately have no facilities to persue neon and no plans to do so. As a consequence, I decided in 2018 to venture out on my own, trying to make contacts with a view to securing an affordable space (hah!) that could support a small studio. At present, I have recently taken on a small studio in a science lab within an old 1920s art deco school and am looking for the equipment to begin practising. I look forward to connecting with the community and hope for more UK based neon facilities in the future.

Hey Michael and welcome! we're super excited to have you involved from across the pond and hope we can facilitate some connections between folks in your area and beyond. Don't hesitate to reach out to anyone here with questions or anything you just want to add to the conversation!

Chicago, IL

Hi!!! I'm Zoelle and grew up in a neon shop but have only been making my own signs for the last two years. I am based in Chicago and work out of my dads shop in the suburbs. I'm excited to be a part of this community even if I'm very slow on the tech side of communication. I started lampworking around age ten and have a degree in photography, worked at penland fir a few years and now I'm the mom to two little kids.

Hi, I'm Gianluca, a new member of the community. I've been practicing the magic of neon for a year. In Italy there are no active communities. I'm happy to be part of this project dedicated to neon. I can't wait to hear from you about your experience.

Glenside, PA

Hello Gianluca! Welcome to the Neon Makers Guild. I think you are our only member from Italy and it's nice to have you here. :) Are you practicing on your own, or studying under someone? It is a challenging craft to learn for sure! I have been in the business for over 30 years and I am still learning new things. I hope you find our community to be helpful.
