Wanted to share this "mini story" that was presented on the latest 99% Invisible podcast in case anyone missed it, I thought it was pretty cool. It's about the "neonization" of the Soviet Union in the 50's.

Thank you!  Great little segment on an area that we often don't consider.  There have been couple of books published -- "Polish Coldwar Neon" and "Neon Revolution" ...both by Ilona Karwinska, that you may enjoy.  A quick look through them will show the fine design and enjoyable appearance of their work.  Additionally, for some insights into Eastern Bloc neon technology, I had previously put a Soviet neon book (in both translated and in original Russian) up on the NMG Library page, so check it out!
